"AT THE ROCKET”

Greetings Rocket Post,
Brrrr.
Not sure about the rest of you but I do not like sleeves and I certainly do not
like wearing a jacket. Hope this cold front moves on quickly. As some of you
may have seen Friday we were getting a lot of rain and it looked like our
tailgate party for the Rockledge High school was going to be a washout. Well it
turned out pretty good if you ask me. Lot of the Rockledge Raider fans still
showed up even though the game was postponed to Saturday evening. One thing I
noticed Friday was there were some Cocoa fans in attendance as well, some of
them were even volunteering in the kitchen! Well the Raiders lost to Cocoa 20
to 14 but it was a great game. Congrats to Cocoa for a well-played game.
Raiders, hold your heads high, that was a well fought game.
Coming up this week at the Rocket; Wednesday 10 November we will
celebrate the Marine Corps birthday at 6:00 PM with a cake cutting and one of
our very own Marines will speak. Come and celebrate our Marines and let them
know how much they are appreciated.
On Thursday we say "Thank You”, to all who
served this great country of ours. The Ceremony will begin
at 11:00 AM on the 11th day of the 11th Month 2021.
Commander Thompson asks that everyone arrive by 10:45 AM and be seated by 11:00
AM so the ceremony can begin at 11:00 AM. After the ceremony there will be
lunch provided by the Post.
We
still have tickets available for the Spaghetti dinner on 13 November. Remember,
this dinner will start at 3:00 PM and there will be raffles and other things
going on. All proceeds from the dinner will go towards the Christmas for the
kids at the Orlando Children’s Hospital. See one of the canteen associates if
you have any questions.
If
you have not heard, we have a 55 inch color television to raffle off for the
Christmas fund for Roses Christmas. See the canteen associate and get your
ticket or tickets. The television is in the canteen on the right side, you
really can’t miss it.
The
holiday season is upon us and now we are going to focus on Thanksgiving and
Christmas. For Thanksgiving please see the flyer for our annual dinner which
will be on the 25th starting at noon. Get with Carl Davis if you
would like to volunteer for set up, serving, and clean up. This is always a
great event for our post, our membership and their families and friends.
Have a wonderful week.
