Greetings Rocket Post,
We
had another great week at the Rocket Post and we have another great one coming
up. I would like to thank all of you that helped prepare for our First
Responder Day on Saturday. All of the help setting up and all the food that was
prepared was much appreciated. I know we did not have very many First
responders come by the post but that just means they were out doing their jobs
or they were enjoying what little time they have off with their families. For
those that did come by for lunch I know they really appreciated all the effort
put in to Saturday. Again, thank you all very much.
This
will be the last week for the food drive for the Humane Society. On Friday the
Commander and the Auxiliary President will be loading up all the donations and
delivering them. If you have any cat or dog food or other necessities for the
Humane Society please bring them by Thursday. For those that have already
donated, another huge thanks. I know they are going to appreciate your
generosity.
If
you did not sign up for the Chicken Fried Steak dinner this Wednesday I highly
suggest calling the canteen and seeing if you can still get on the list. I know
I signed up for two plates and that’s just for me.
For
all you golfers out there! If you have not signed up for the 495th Legends
Golf Scramble which is this Saturday the 30th of October I highly
suggest calling Turtle Creek Golf Course and seeing if there is still some open
slots or teams in need. This is a huge event and it is a blast.
Last
week I was asked if we are having a Halloween party. I never gave it a thought
as I was looking at Sunday being Halloween and taking our Granddaughter trick
or treating. It totally slipped my mind. Well, Danno, the Karaoke Jocky, asked
if we could have one and I said of course. So, this Saturday starting at 5:00
PM we will have a Halloween party. Dress up if you like, bring finger food to
share if you like, let’s just have some fun. If you have not met Danno, he
dresses up like Alice Cooper for Halloween and word is he sings it pretty good
too.
Yes
we will still have the pool league! You guys and gals feel free to dress up
too. This should prove to be fun.
We
still have tickets available for the Spaghetti dinner on 13 November. Remember,
this dinner will start at 3:00 PM and there will be raffles and other things
going on. All proceeds from the dinner will go towards the Christmas for the
kids at the Orlando Children’s Hospital. See one of the canteen associates if
you have any questions.
