"AT THE ROCKET”

VFW Post 4534

9.9.2021

Greetings Rocket Post,

Like I always say, I have excuses for being late. This time it is because I was on vacation seeing family up in Indiana. But even being on vacation I hear about the post, the members and the great things happening all around us. Check out below, we have information for Patriots Pen, Voice of Democracy and Teacher of the year. If you know of anyone interested please pass this information along and if you know any teachers or anyone affiliated with the schools in the area please let them know about these great events.

As many of you know we had a new roof put on the Post and it was needed. Now we should be good to go for a few years. I know there were a few of you that brought in nails and other sharp objects form the parking lot that their magnet did not pick up. Thank you for that and taking care of each other.

Bingo Players! 12 September will be the start of the NFL season and as you all remember, the screen room and the canteen will have the games on. If you choose to play bingo in the canteen please remember you will need to use the screens in the canteen because the speakers will be off. If you wish to hear the numbers please play in the hall.

Speaking about Sundays, the menu will be changed and we are adding a few items for the football season. Yes we will have the normal Burgers and dogs. As you know we already added the Pulled Pork Sandwiches a couple weeks ago. Now we are adding the basket of fries, Onion Rings, Chicken tenders, Chili when available, and Egg rolls. There might be more but I am shooting from the hip on this topic, it is hard to keep up with the kitchen crew. They are just that awesome.

Coming up; Wednesday 29 September the kitchen is offering a special dinner. Beef Liver and Onions, mashed potatoes with gravy, salad and dessert. Please sign up in the canteen so Carl knows how much to prepare.

The Patriot Pen Theme is "How Can I be a Good American?  This program is for 6th thought 8th grade.  It requires the student to write a paper between 300 and 400 words.

The Teacher of the Year application must describe in 350 words or less why the teacher promotes patriotism and their dedication to education and complete the nomination form.
