Greetings Rocket Post,
As usual, I am a day late on this update.
This past week has been fantastic at the All Veterans Reunion and Wickham Park.
I met so many people I had never met before and their stories of their time in
the service just made me appreciate all Vets even more. Some of these Vets
lived through times that most of us cannot even fathom. I met a small group of
three Green Berets that served together in Vietnam. Two of them were in the company
and the one was their 1SG. These are the last three from their company and they
have stayed in touch for all these years. That is what brotherhood is really
about.
Again I want to say thank you to our
volunteers. Over this past week we had a lot going on getting ready for the
wall escort, the ceremony Monday night and then one of our volunteers in the
kitchen made a change to the Sunday burgers and dogs and prepared Reuben
Sandwiches. Those of you that got to the post after 2:15 found out they had
sold out. What an amazing idea Carl Davis had and I do think we will try to
have a variety at least one Sunday a month. Those that missed out did not leave
hungry because the grill was fired up and they all got fed.
Our Sunday Bingo is getting bigger and
better every week. The jackpot games are over 250.00 and this means a ninth
game for some extra cash to the lucky winner. Hopefully our Thursday Bingo
picks up a bit in the coming weeks.
General Members, please remember our House Committee Meeting is at 5:30
PM Wednesday and our General Membership meeting will start at 7:00 PM so please
find the time to be there if you want your voice to be heard.
Please remember if you want to volunteer
in the kitchen or around the Post please let me know or reach out to the
canteen associate or the Kitchen manager.
