"AT THE ROCKET”

Greetings Rocket Post,
After a great week in Otter Springs and
some great comradery and relaxation it is hard getting back into the normal
grind of a full time job and time management. I certainly cannot wait until the
next camping (Glamping) trip with some wonderful people from our Post and their
friends and family from as far away as the Carolinas. For those that couldn’t
make it this time I do hope to see you on the next trip.
Do not forget on Sunday 11 April we have
the buffet breakfast for the Memorial Wall Escort. Breakfast starts at 7:00 AM
and around 10:00 to 10:30 we welcome you all to sit out front for the Police
Escort of the memorial wall of our heroes. Help me spread the word that if any
of you ride a motorcycle please park at Indian River Furniture next door, on
the concrete and avoid the loose gravel in our parking lot. If you have any
questions please do not hesitate to ask.
For those of you that are interested, we
will be taking part in the Opening ceremony at Wickham Park Monday 12 April at
5:00 PM. At this time we will be placing a wreath from the General membership
and the Auxiliary. This is a great ceremony with a couple guest speakers so if
you have time we would love to see some VFW membership support.
I know some of you were upset about Bingo
being cancelled last week but in the past we have never had Bingo on Easter
Sunday. This Sunday Bingo is back so I do hope to see all of you there. Tell
your friends we need to keep Loni busy on that grill.
We are in the talking phase right now and
I think we are going to be starting a Ladies Night at the Rocket. This will be
on a Saturday and this will also come with entertainment maybe karaoke, maybe a
one man band. It is my goal to also make it more fun and have a couple of our
board members as the bar tenders. What do you all think about the outgoing and
the incoming commanders tending bar on Ladies night? I for one think this is a
fantastic idea. We will address this at the next House Committee meeting.
During the Food Shoot this past Saturday
they discussed changing things up a bit due to the increase in meat prices. The
majority agreed to try out a new game called Show me the Money. So, next month
on the first Saturday the Auxiliary will be introducing this new game. To me
this sounds like a lot of fun. Hopefully you all agree.
Have a wonderful week.
