"AT THE ROCKET”
VFW Post 4534
11.30.2020
Greetings Rocket Post,
First off I want to say thank you to all
of you that stepped up and made Thanksgiving dinner a complete success. We did
not feed very many in the Post but we sure had a lot of carry out dinners.
Approximately 75 meals went out on Thanksgiving and that could not have
happened without the awesome volunteers from our Post as well as the Key Club
from Rockledge High School. What a fantastic day it turned out to be.
You have 4 days left to get in on the
drawing for the handmade American Flag hanging in the canteen by the Christmas
tree. See the canteen associate for your tickets. The Auxiliary will be drawing
the winner this Friday at 7:00 PM after our Fish Dinner. You do not need to be
present to win.
Ah yes Christmas is getting closer and you
will see the decorations going up around the post. Some of the auxiliary and
the general membership started Friday night by setting up two trees and then on
Saturday continued to dress up the hall and the canteen. It is beginning to
look a lot like Christmas.
Speaking of Christmas, as you know each
year we raise money to support veteran families as well as families in our
community that need some help during Christmas. So far this year, even with
covid-19, we have raised over $5,200.00 and as of right now we are going to be
helping 13 families that need our support. This would not be possible without
all of your support through donations and playing the 50/50 on Friday night.
Thank you all very much. Yes we will be having the 50/50 this Friday during the
fish dinner and we will announce the winner at 7:00 PM when the Auxiliary draws
the winner of the flag.
Christmas day! Do not think that you have
nowhere to go on this day. The Rocket Post will be open and you can bet there
will be food. Looks like three turkeys and a ham or two are being made. See
Carrie if you plan on attending and enjoying the day with us. I will ask
permission to have open jukebox and I will ask permission to have the pool
table open on this great day as well.
For this year’s New Year’s Eve get
together we are going to try something a little different. Some members have
said midnight is just too late to be out and about. I have to agree. So, we are
going to try to ring in the New Year the same time Brazil does. So, we will be
dropping the ball in the Rocket Post at 10:00 PM and welcome 2021 a couple
hours before everyone else. Hopefully more of our members can be a part of the
New year celebration with us.
Quick note; until further notice the
Rocket post will open at 3:00 PM on Saturdays. We will revisit this in January
2021.
Have a wonderful
week.
