"AT THE ROCKET”

Greetings Rocket Post,
Happy Monday Everyone; I was thinking over
the weekend how in the military during this time of the year we would always
have mandatory training and it would focus on looking out for one another
because during the holidays there are a lot of folks that are depressed and
upset about being away from home, either at their duty station or deployed to
some foreign land. Even though we are here I wonder how many out there need an
ear or something to do in an attempt to keep their minds from wandering. I can
only speak for myself and I know during this time I miss my son and I wish he
was here and not 2000 miles away. It may not sound like much but in all
honestly it is. I want everyone to know that we are here for you if you need an
ear or if you need anything. Depression is not something anyone should have to
deal with on their own and it does get worse during the holidays so please do
not hesitate to call any of us on the board or another member that you know.
So, last Thursday we had a lucky winner of
the fall basket. Congrats Peggy. I believe the 4th of December at
6:00 PM is the drawing for the handmade American Flag. See the bartender for
your tickets and remember, you need not be present to win.
With the holidays approaching we are
seeing a decline in attendance so until mid-January we will not be having
Thursday night entertainment. In January we will discuss bringing it back.
Between now and then you still have Aarons Awesome Tacos and we will have the
open Jukebox. On that note, Thank you Comrade Lawson and Kathy Tubbs for
filling in last Thursday, I hear the Pulled Pork tacos were a hit.
Three days and it is Thanksgiving Day! We
will serve from noon to 2:00 PM and then we will clean and serve again at 2:30
PM thru 4:30 PM. We will have the hall, the canteen and the screen room and all
plates will be served to order. As always our members who dine at the post eat
for free, this includes one guest for free. Additional guests we ask for a
$5.00 donation and for all "carry out” orders we ask for a $5.00 donation. We
already have the volunteers who will do the preparation and for that I say a huge
Thank you. The Rockledge High School Key Club has volunteered to handle the
serving and clean up for our Thanksgiving dinner. This club promotes leadership
as well as community service. We have the sign-up sheets in the canteen so
please get signed up for one of the two servings and let us know how many
guests you will have. If you can’t make it to the post please call the canteen
associate so we can keep track of how many guests we will have. Thank you. Any
additional suggestions, volunteers, and concerns about the Thanksgiving dinner
please call or email our Jr. Vice Commander, Rick McFarland (321)243-3484 atlntcclssc@aol.com Thank you in advance.
The evening of Thanksgiving, 26 November,
there will not be tacos or entertainment. Also Friday the 27th there
will not be a dinner but we will have Karaoke kicking off at 7:00 PM.
Don’t forget to sign in the daily and
weekly when you visit the Post and do not miss out on the drawing the Auxiliary
is having. They have a beautiful handmade American Flag. See the canteen
associate for your tickets.
Have a wonderful
week.
