At The Rocket

Greetings Rocket Post,

First off, I said it Saturday and I’ll say it again, Thank you very much to all of you that showed up Saturday for the Post Clean-up. What an amazing turn out and we accomplished far more than I had anticipated.

Check below for what’s happening this week at the Rocket and I do hope to see you all there. Some highlights are, Bingo is back on Thursdays and Sundays. Thursday night; Aaron is in the kitchen making those awesome tacos and other favorites. On 10 November we will have a cake for the Marine Corps Birthday, we plan to cut this at 6:00 PM prior to Paint Stick Bingo which starts at 7:00 PM. 11 November is Veterans Day, I will put out information on that separate. We also have the sign-up sheets at the post for Thanksgiving dinner.

Important message about Thanksgiving Day; we will serve from noon to 2:00 PM and then we will clean and serve again at 2:30 PM thru 4:30 PM. We will have the hall, the canteen and the screen room and all plates will be served to order. I know in the past we had it set up like a buffet but in keeping with better sanitation we will ask you to select what you would like and we will serve it to you, similar to Friday night dinners. I will put the menu below. As always our members who dine at the post eat for free, this includes one guest for free. Additional guests we ask for a $5.00 donation and for all "carry out” orders we ask for a $5.00 donation. We already have the volunteers who will do the preparation and for that I say a huge Thank you. We will need volunteers to help with serving, cleaning and collecting any donations while serving. Please call or email our Jr. Vice Commander, Rick McFarland (321)243-3484 let him know when you could be available to help. Thank you in advance.

For those of you wishing to help on Friday night dinners, Sunday afternoons on the grill and other events please let either myself or the canteen associate (bartender) know. If you are concerned about not knowing how something works I assure you, I figured it out so that pretty much means anyone can do it. (That was a funny!)

Keep your eyes and ears open! Our kitchen manager will be setting up classes very soon for our current volunteers and new volunteers so we can get certified as a food handler. I will let you all know when we will start the classes. This is a great way to become more familiar with the do’s and don’ts in the kitchen and around food.

Don’t forget to sign in the daily and weekly when you visit the Post and do not miss out on the two drawings the Auxiliary is having. They have a beautiful handmade American Flag and they have a Fall Basket with all kinds of goodies in it. See the canteen associate for your tickets.

Have a wonderful week.
