Return from Covid-19 Standards

Mark R. Kelley - 10/14/2020

From the Commander:

As we prepare to re-open the Post next weekend, I want to put out a standard return to "work" policy/statement for our Volunteers as well as letting our members know we are doing everything we can to ensure we are looking out for the health, safety, and welfare of all who come to the Rocket Post. I spoke with Danny and he said he's using the same standard I was looking at, which is the CDC Standard:

If someone suspects they have been exposed to someone who has tested positive for Covid-19, they should get tested themselves to see if they are positive or not and they should self-quarantine for 14 days to be sure they don't develop any symptoms, or risk passing on the virus if they are asymptomatic.

If someone tests positive, they quarantine until they test again to see if they're negative, normally this is a 10 day window. If no symptoms develop and they test negative, they are safe to go back to work.

We will continue to maintain 50% occupancy and strongly encourage social distancing. We highly encourage our Canteen Associates to wear masks until further notice, and we highly recommend that our members wear protective face coverings as well, although we are not making it mandatory. Our volunteers that work in the kitchen will be required to wear masks and gloves.

This virus is not going anywhere anytime soon so we all need to do our part to help curtail the spread by following these protocols and washing/sanitizing our hands on a regular basis. Be aware of your surroundings and what you're touching.  It is imperative that anyone who discovers they are positive take immediate steps to isolate themselves from the public and maintain the quarantine protocols as dictated by medical personnel. If anyone comes to the Post knowing that they are positive, or have been exposed to someone who tested positive, you are putting others at risk, and this is NOT acceptable. This would be a punishable offense under Article 9 of the Podium Edition of our Congressional Charter Bylaws Manual of Procedural Ritual.

We, the leadership of VFW "Rocket Post" 4534, are here for you. If you or someone you know has a need, please let us know. We are doing what we can to make the Post as safe as possible for all who choose to come. We will continue to exercise whatever measures we deem appropriate to insure your safety. Thank you for entrusting us with this responsibility; it is our honor to serve you.

Stay safe, be blessed, and we hope to see you soon at the Rocket Post.

                                                                        Respectfully,
