Greetings Comrades,

Today, as we celebrate VFW Day, I want to say THANK YOU to all our volunteers and members who help keep our Post going day in and day out. Together, we are able to work toward our main mission and goal, which is taking care of veterans and their families. September 29th marks the 119thAnniversary of the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars, which began with a group of veterans from the Spanish American War and the Philippine Insurrection in 1899. Since that time, the VFW has gone on to become the nation’s largest group of combat veterans.

Every day, we as part of this organization, do our pat to "honor the dead by helping the living”. The VFW promotes patriotism, goodwill and youth scholarships. They also provide military assistance and community service programs; promote youth activities and volunteer many hours in their local communities. As members of the "Rocket” Post, this is what we strive to do. Volunteerism is what makes our organization possible, so for all of you who step up and do your part, however big or small you think it may be, we as the leaders of your post want you to know how much we appreciate you. Many of you have stepped into volunteer roles in the past, and you are appreciated as well. This day is about saying Thank You to all our members and their families and all you do to make out Post what it is.

During this extremely difficult and challenging year, our volunteers have been even more critical than usual, so for those who’ve been able to step in and help during this season, a special thank you, and we continue to be here for those who need to stay distant in order to protect your health. It takes all of us working together to keep our Post moving in the right direction.

HAPPY VFW DAY!

Respectfully,

Mark R. Kelley

Commander
