Greetings Rocket Post,

Happy Monday Everyone; I hope this week’s letter finds you all in the best of health and happiness. I know that’s easier said than done with all this Covid-19 business.

We have been shut down, re-opened, partially opened to 50% and then closed again. I know some of you have asked why we are closed and the Legions and Amvets are open serving food and alcohol. The answer is simple, they do not fall under the same guidelines that we do.

As of today 13 July I am told the Amvets and the American Legions have been shut down as well.

In an attempt to avoid total confusion we have decided to wait until this week’s meeting and discuss our options moving forward. That being said I would hope to see more of you show up at the meeting. General membership meetings are held once a month on the third Wednesday of the month at 7:00 PM and if you are a general member and you want your voice to be heard I encourage you to attend. We will be practicing social distancing and you can feel free to wear a mask if you feel better doing so. Please do not skip the meeting and then later ask why something was not discussed. This is our Post, not the boards, so if you have a thought be sure to arrive Wednesday night prior to 7:00 pm and join us for our monthly meeting. Be sure to bring your membership card as that is checked upon entry.

We are hopeful to have a more concrete answer by the end of this week from State, District and our Commander. I can tell you that our chain of command has been fighting to get us re-opened and there is a good chance that it could happen but there again, we need to wait for our leaders to get the final word.

On to another topic; Our Friday night dinners are declining and if we are going to sell only 12 dinners it is not really worth the time and the effort. This will be discussed Wednesday night as well and truthfully I do not want our Friday night dinners to stop. I am only one person. I need you to speak up and tell us what you would like. Are you hoping for something other than Fish? If so we need to know. Do you want Pork Chops with dressing? Do you want BBQ Ribs? Do you want an Italian option??? Without your thoughts and desires we will have no choice but to shut down the kitchen until further notice.

I am sorry I do not have anything uplifting to share this week other than we are still here for you and all of you should already know that. Stay in contact with each other and do not hesitate to ask for help if you need it. Soon this will be behind us and hopefully never return but in the meantime take care of yourself, your family and your friends.

General Membership I hope to see you Wednesday night. Auxiliary, if you have a thought or desire get with your Aux officers and get the message to us, we are all working together in the Rocket Post.

Have a wonderful week.
