"AT THE ROCKET”
VFW Post 4534
Greetings Rocket Post,
Hello everyone, I have started this 5 times now and cannot get any of it to sound right. I want to tell you about so much but I do not want to overwhelm you with information either. I will give you the short version and in the coming weeks I will keep you updated as best I can.
As most of you know we opened the Post last Friday 5 June. We are restricted on the amount of people that can be inside but it seemed to work out just great. I do believe everyone had a great time, I know I did. As of right now we can have 70 people in the post at a time and we are encouraged to practice social distancing. You will see the chairs around the bar are separated by a couple feet. Unless you are sitting with family please keep them apart. This pertains to the service area as well, please keep a couple feet away from there as many people will be walking up to order a drink.
For our Friday dinners we will continue with the Fish dinner and have a weekly special. The reason is because we must use to go trays and flatware. Once we go to 75% or 100% we will use our plates and silverware and then we will be cranking up that grill and burning some steaks and pork chops.
Tuesday night Texas Holdem will not be starting until we can have more people in a group. Bingo will not be starting until we are back to 100% because Sundays we usually have a packed house and we decided to hold off and avoid turning people away. I know a lot of you were waiting for the Bingo to start again and I hope it will be soon. The Food Shoot will not be starting until we are at 75 or 100%.
The Shuffleboard has started again, the pool league has started again and the Tuesday night Paint Stick is starting this evening. If we have too many people in the canteen we will move that to the hall.
We are going to try our Thursday night Tacos this week with Karaoke and this will be set up in the hall to promote social distancing. If it works out as well as last Friday this will continue, if we see any issues we will address them and make adjustments moving forward. It is up to each of us to remind our members and guests about the Governors guidance and we need to follow it to the letter. I am sure nobody wants us shut down again.
Last night I was told by two members that they did not know that we were opened until they drove by. This is where I need your help. Please share this information with others and if you are not receiving an email from the post please get with the canteen associate on shift and check the roster to ensure we have the correct contact information and also ask to be added to the distribution list for newsletters and the updates from Hope Kelley in the Auxiliary. I cannot call everyone to let them know of changes.
Have a wonderful week.
