At The Rocket

Good Day Everyone,

What a great week we had at the Rocket Post. The Marine Corps birthday celebration last Sunday was awesome and then on Monday we had our Veterans Day ceremony. I was very impressed; Great speakers, great singing by our Sr. Vice, great pledge to our Nations Flag by our commander’s son and the volunteers that made it happen. We have some pretty awesome people at our post.

Please remember that 17 November, Sunday, there will be no Football and no Bingo, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. We will be having a celebration of life for a young man that left us way too soon.

Last Sunday I was asked if bingo players could reserve seats for their friends. I had not looked at the rules in quite a while and was not sure if that was covered. I called on our post Bingo committee and was advised that it clearly states in the FL. Statutes that reserving seats is unauthorized. I was even shown this in writing. Moving forward there will be no reserving seats for anyone. There is a copy of the Statutes covering bingo in the bingo book and if anyone has questions please feel free to get with me and we can discuss this.

The holidays are among us again. Yes there are a lot of people that will be happy and full of cheer with family gatherings and distant friends coming to town. Let us not forget about all of those that do not have that luxury and keep them in your thoughts during this time when some will not be celebrating but feeling very depressed and lonely. Statistics vary on how many people this has an effect on but if it only one that is too many. I have seen a lot of open invitations from friends inviting anyone to their house on Thanksgiving. That is the spirit. Please spread the word that we are having dinner at the Rocket Post starting at 1:00 PM on Thanksgiving. Let us not leave anyone without on this special day.

Have a wonderful week.
