Thanksgiving
Greetings
To
my fellow Comrades and families of the Rocket Post, I want to wish you all a
safe and happy Thanksgiving.
This year’s observance of Thanksgiving is
markedly different from last year. Many families will not be getting together
as might be their tradition because of concerns with travel and the overall
COVID19 impact. Some, as our Sr. Vice, John Collier stated in the weekly At The
Rocket, will have a difficult time because of loved ones who are no longer with
us or are separated from us because of their service to our country. For many
of you, the Rocket Post is your family, or an extension of it, and we are
grateful to be part of your lives.
I want to personally say THANK YOU to all
of our Officers for their willingness to be part of the leadership team at the
Rocket Post. I also want to especially thank ALL our volunteers who step up and
help make things happen in so many ways. From our Canteen Associates, to our
cook teams and kitchen volunteers, to those who come in and help with even the
little things. Our Post is only able to exist and function because of all of
you and our mission remains the same: "Taking Care of Veterans and their
Families”.
I want to also apologize for any
misunderstandings or confusion over my recent COVID protocol letter. It was
never my intention to make or force anyone to wear a mask at our Post, only to
encourage you to consider it. I serve as your Commander because you chose to
put me there, and my highest priority is always the safety and wellbeing of our
members and patrons.
I pray all of you have a safe and
meaningful Thanksgiving. Even in the midst of all the troubles we and our
country are going through, there is still so much to be thankful for. I am
THANKFUL for each of you and for your service to our country, both in war, and
in peace.
Respectfully,
Mark
R. Kelley
