Greetings Rocket Post,
As we
all have seen and heard, this past week has been tragic for our country in that
we lost 13 servicemen and women to a cowardly act. Keep the families and friends
of those that paid the ultimate price in your thoughts and prayers. As many of
you have seen, the US Flag has been at half-staff since Friday and will go back
to full staff this evening when the sun goes down. We also have a display set
up in the canteen for those that lost their lives and that to will be taken
away this evening when the Flag goes back up. I hope we do not have to display this
again.
Again
this week I get to say Thank you to our volunteer teams for stepping up and
making Thursday, Friday and Sunday truly awesome. For those that missed out
Friday night we had those awesome cuts of meat we had a couple of award winning
cakes to offer. Fantastic job by everyone!
Coming up; Wednesday 29 September the kitchen is offering a special
dinner. Beef Liver and Onions, mashed potatoes with gravy, salad and dessert. Please
sign up in the canteen so Carl knows how much to prepare.
Also,
on Fish night, the kitchen is now offering Chicken tenders as an option for the
next couple months and if this seems to be a hit, we will continue it.
In
case you missed it, we added pulled pork sandwiches to the Sunday menu. If you
have not tried one, or two, I gotta tell you, you are missing out.
For
the next three or four days you will see a lot of work going on at the post as
our new roof is going up. Weather permitting, they hope to be finished by Wednesday
but we all know Florida and the weather here so be patient. They plan to do all
the work out back so nothing should interfere with daily operations or parking.
Does
anyone need a refrigerator? We have an extra Fridge at the post that needs a
new home. It works perfect and would be great for a garage fridge so if you
want it please let me know. This will be first come first serve. You will need
to have it moved that is all.

Players! 12 September will be the start of the NFL season and as you all
remember, the screen room and the canteen will have the games on. If you choose
to play bingo in the canteen please remember you will need to use the screens
in the canteen because the speakers will be off. If you wish to hear the
numbers please play in the hall.
As
always, please share this information with other members that do not check
Facebook or the Post Web Page. I am still hearing from members that say they
did not know what was going on at the Post.
